VELUX opens new factory in Slovakia

Today VELUX A/S officially opens a new factory near Partizanske in Slovakia.

Summary

The new factory is placed in Slovakia to support the market growth that VELUX expects to see in the Central and Eastern European regions in the coming years.

VELUX A/S has more than 65 years' experience in producing high-quality roof windows.

"We know that Slovakia has a long tradition and a skilled workforce in various production areas and we are fortunate that we can employ educated and skilled people from this region. VELUX policy is to employ local staff and we put a lot of effort into providing a sound working environment with optimum possibilities of continuously upgrading qualifications. We offer a number of incentives in terms of training and other benefits in order for our employees to continue their own personal development", says Jorgen Laursen, general manager of PBC-SK, s.r.o.

During 2009 PBC-SK is planning to employ around 100 people. The factory will be based on modern organisational and technological processes with the implementation of LEAN production principles. By implementing the newest work and management systems, the following certifications will be required: ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. The factory fulfills all requirements in terms of emission limits and corresponds with high ecological demands required for this type of production.

The construction of the factory officially started on 13 March 2008.
