VELUX Group wins two Red Dot Design Awards 2026 for new roller shutter
The VELUX Group has received two honours in the annual Red Dot Design Award for its new sash-mounted roller shutter. The product was awarded ‘Red Dot: Best of the Best’ in the innovative design category, the highest distinction in the programme, and a ‘Red Dot Award for Product Design’ in the sun protection category, recognising its design quality in an international and highly competitive field.
One of the latest VELUX innovations — a new sash-mounted roller shutter — has received international design recognition with no less than two Red Dot Design Awards.
The international Red Dot jury highlighted the roller shutter for its combination of sleek aesthetics, strong functionality and user-oriented innovation. With a high number of submissions from companies and design studios worldwide, the double recognition is a strong endorsement of the design choices and overall quality of the solution.
The new roller shutter, which is currently available in Austria and will become available in Germany from 1 May 2026, represents a new generation of exterior heat protection. Compared to the current VELUX roller shutter, the solution features improved performance, slimmer aluminium slats and a significantly lower carbon impact, while supporting a discreet and contemporary design.

Positive feedback from German professional partners
Most recently, the new roller shutter was presented at the Dach+Holz trade fair in Cologne, Germany, where professional partners responded positively to the design, reduced weight and, in particular, the easier and faster installation.
