VELUX Group wins the EY Sustainability Award 2022

Last night the VELUX Group was named winner of the Sustainability Award in the climate strategy category hosted by EY and the Danish Chamber of Commerce in Copenhagen, Denmark. The company received this prestigious award for its focus on drastically reducing emissions across the value chain and for capturing its entire historical emissions from operations.

The Climate Strategy Award is awarded to a company that has particularly ambitious goals and actions in its strategic approach to climate change. The independent jury saw VELUX Group as a good example of this and the jury highlighted the company as a good example of how a large, well-established company can transform and create a real impact,

says Jan C. Olsen, CEO, EY Denmark.

There was great excitement among a very strong group of nominees when the winner was announced. The VELUX Group are extremely proud to win the award for its climate strategy.

We are very pleased and honored to win this award. Our sustainability strategy has a solid focus on cutting carbon emissions across all areas of the company, as well as working to capture our historical emissions from operations. It is great to see our work is recognized and valued. We hope our actions will inspire others to transform their business in line with science and both reduce their own emissions as well as invest in solutions beyond their own value chain,

says Anders Götzsche, CFO and interim CEO of the VELUX Group

Launched in 2020, the target for the VELUX Group sustainability strategy is to reduce CO2 emissions from the company’s operations to zero (scope 1 and 2) and to halve emissions from the value chain (scope 3) by 2030. In addition, VELUX has committed to capture the company`s historical emissions from 1941 until its 100-year anniversary in 2041. To do this, the company has partnered with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to develop nature conservation and forest restoration projects around the world. VELUX also want to be part of  transforming the sustainability of the entire building sector.
