Title sponsor has great expectations for a new season of VELUX EHF Champions League

After a favourable outcome of the first season as title sponsor of Europe's premier men's handball competition, the VELUX Group is looking forward to a new season.

With more than 650,000 spectators in the handball arenas, over 300 million TV viewers and 3,500 VELUX guests invited to the matches, the first season as title sponsor was a success for the VELUX Group. The international company has sales companies throughout Europe and all of them enjoyed the corporate hospitality that brought business partners and customers together in a more informal and social context.

As the company brand is incorporated into the VELUX EHF Champions League name and logo, it was seen by hundreds of millions of European television viewers. The professional advertising in handball arenas, on the courts and perimeter displays, ensured massive and continual exposure of the brand throughout the extensive TV and online coverage.

"We are very happy with the result of our first season as title sponsor, much of which was due to the close and professional relationship we have developed with EHF Marketing. In addition, we have experienced how the strong winning mentality and determined team effort in the handball championship harmonise well with the VELUX Group's values and corporate culture," says Michael K. Rasmussen, Chief Marketing Officer of the VELUX Group.

"It is of great value for us to be able to meet our customers at events like this. All the European sales companies in the Group took advantage of the sponsorship and for the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in Cologne alone they invited 650 guests. I think everybody took home an unforgettable experience," says Michael K. Rasmussen.

Looking forward to the second year of a three-year sponsorship agreement, the VELUX Group is confident that another rewarding season is now under way. "With the opening of the second season we are looking forward to an even bigger hospitality setup and to reaching an even larger TV audience. We will certainly do our best to contribute to the continuing development of this event," says Michael K. Rasmussen.

The preliminary round of matches has already started and will run until February 2012. In that period, 24 clubs will play 120 matches in arenas across Europe. Among the clubs are three from Spain, including the winner of last season of VELUX EHF Champions League – FC Barcelona Intersport. Germany is also represented by three clubs while Poland, Denmark and France each have two clubs in the tournament. After the Group Phase comes the 'Last 16' – 16 teams playing 16 matches – and then, after the quarter finals, the season reaches its exciting climax with the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in Cologne in May.
