The VELUX Group and Domea.dk enter Living Places partnership
The VELUX Group and Domea.dk enter a partner agreement to accelerate the green transition of the affordable housing sector in Denmark. With this agreement, Domea.dk will be the first non-profit housing organisation to facilitate full-scale testing of the Living Places principles in building Danish affordable housing projects.
Domea.dk will apply the Living Places principles to establish sustainable communities and homes with a low carbon footprint and healthy indoor climates. So far, the plan is to initially develop a housing project of 40 new rental homes for Domea Faxe in the southern part of Zealand.
We are very pleased about this agreement with Domea.dk concerning the use of the Living Places concept for social housing, This partnership is proof that sustainable and healthy buildings can be made accessible and affordable for everyone. It will be interesting to see how the Living Places principles come to life in new homes initiated by Domea.dk.
Making low-carbon emission housing affordable for many
Going forward, the concept is expected to play a significant role in Domea.dk's upcoming new construction and development plans. Hopefully, this new partnership will contribute to scaling the concept, principles, and the extensive knowledge that Living Places has provided, making it accessible to far more people than is currently the case.
Together with our customers, we would like to take the lead when it comes to providing good and healthy housing for everyone. And that is why we are also proud that we – through a partnership with VELUX – can now begin to work more actively with the principles of 'Living Places'. This is about building with consideration for resource consumption and using good materials, ensuring longer durability, a lower CO₂ footprint, and a good indoor climate for residents. The ambition is to create homes that are both socially and environmentally sustainable – and to make them accessible to a larger group of people.
Through the agreement, the VELUX Group shares analyses, calculations and simulations from Living Places as well as detailed information about the five principles behind the Living Places concept with Domea.dk.
About Living Places
The Living Places concept is developed by the VELUX Group in partnership with EFFEKT architects and Artelia engineers. The concept includes 5 principles of sustainability, health, scalability, affordability, and commercial viability.
The partners opened the doors to the first prototype in Copenhagen in April 2023. Since then, VELUX has entered Living Places agreements with partners in Denmark, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
