Sustainability and VELUX 5 OCEANS

VELUX 5 OCEANS is one of the most exciting and challenging ocean races. It is about one man, one boat and five tough sprints in the longest ocean race around the world. But the race is also about taking care of our planet – simply because the climate is changing for the worse and everyone need to take action to reverse this trend. VELUX launched TAKING ON THE ELEMENTS, a commitment to the planet and a challenge to the world on sustainable development. Through this concept VELUX aims to inspire people to think and act. Just like the race, the VELUX Group supports sustainable development in many specific ways. VELUX's employees work with sustainable building principles to inspire the future of modern living and integrate daylight as a natural renewable source of energy through the roof to make houses carbon-neutral. VELUX's goal is to reduce the negative impact and raise awareness about the need for sustainable progress. Available video includes soundbites from Project Director, Velux 5 Oceans, Anne-Marie Hasselbalch on challenges facing the skippers in the Velux 5 Oceans Race and how the race values are reflected in VELUX's approach to environmentally friendly house building.
