Healthy Homes Design Competition 2022

Organised by REHVA and sponsored by VELUX Group, this new competition for young professionals and students of engineering will identify solutions for achieving healthy homes.

REHVA together with VELUX Group, the primary partner and sponsor, are pleased to announce the launch of the Healthy Homes Design Competition 2022. This brand new initiative aims to stimulate the minds of young and future engineers to identify solutions for how to realise healthy homes.

With urban populations in our major cities rapidly rising and the subsequent need for dwellings also increasing fast, there is an urgent need to reduce the impact buildings have, both on their occupants and on our planet.

Based on this issue, which is well-recognised by both building practitioners and researchers, the Healthy Homes Design Competition aims to encourage and challenge participants to explore the theme of healthy living and to create a deeper understanding of indoor environment qualities as well as investigate the impact of future climate changes on these.

Residential buildings are equipped more and more with advanced building service systems that promote health and energy-efficiency; this is a major reason why REHVA decided to join forces with VELUX Group to organise this healthy homes design competition
said Atze Boerstra, Dr. Ir., feel-good building specialist, Managing Director of BBA Binnenmilieu and Vice President of REHVA

Targeted at students and young professionals working within the fields of building and buildings’ service systems, operation and construction, the competition calls for projects with a focus on people’s health and indoor climate solutions in their living environments.

Since 1942, VELUX Group has worked on developing products that will improve the quality of people’s lives. We believe it is key to continue to develop innovative products and solutions. We want to inspire young minds to develop a healthy future
said Tina Mayn, Senior Vice President Products, VELUX Group.

All the projects will be reviewed by an international jury, composed of experts in the sector and according to the competition timeline. A shortlist of nominees will present their projects at the CLIMA 2022 conference in Rotterdam, in mid May 2022.
