VELUX Group joins the World Business Council for Sustainable Development

VELUX Group becomes a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and joins more than 225 businesses taking action to limit the climate crisis.

VELUX has in the first instance joined the Built Environment Pathway, which is key to our business. The built environment accounts for 40% of global carbon emissions, more than 30% of global final energy use and consumes nearly half of the world’s natural resources. We live, work and spend much of our free time in buildings and therefore they must be healthy and good for our well-being, and VELUX roof windows and accessories are a key contributor to this.

VELUX recently fully integrated sustainability into our corporate strategy to ensure that sustainability is at the heart of the business and incorporated in all decisions and actions. We have set ambitious decarbonisation targets for our operations, value chain and products and therefore it makes perfect sense to be a member of the WBCSD and combine forces with and learn from our peers. The WBCSD’s pathway for the built environment is an area where we can greatly contribute with our extensive knowledge and years of expertise,”

says Fleming Voetmann, Vice President, External Relations & Sustainability, the VELUX Group.

We extend a warm welcome to VELUX as they join WBCSD. We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to collaborate with them in driving impactful sustainability solutions within the built environment. Through this partnership, VELUX is poised to leverage its expertise and commitment to sustainability, aiming to make substantial contributions to global endeavours toward fostering a more sustainable and resilient built environment,”

says Peter Bakker President & CEO of WBCSD.

VELUX Group’s 2030 emission reduction targets for its operations, value chain and products

  • 100% reduction in scope 1&2 emissions compared with 2020, the baseline year
  • 50% reduction of CO₂e from value chain compared with 2020
