VELUX Group strengthens industrial presence in France with EUR 40 million production expansion

A new roof window shutter production facility will be built in Marnay, Haute-Saône to meet the growing demand from customers in Europe for energy savings and thermal comfort in both winter and summer.

The expansion project will occur between 2023 and 2025, and upon completion, the workforce there will have increased by 50 percent. Lars Petersson, CEO of the VELUX Group, announced the investment today during his participation in the Choose France Summit, an event dedicated to improving the economic attractiveness of France.

The investment covers both the cost of expanding and modernising the Marnay site. It involves the construction of a new manufacturing building (almost 10,000 m²) and a storage building (1,200 m²), at a cost of EUR 15 million. In addition, high-tech production equipment will be purchased at a cost of around EUR 25 million. The new manufacturing facility should be fully operational in 2025, creating around 70 new jobs, taking the number of permanent positions to 210, up from 140 today.

This investment in the Marnay site further consolidates the VELUX Group's industrial presence in France, with its three other factories in the Somme, Haute-Marne and Haute-Savoie regions.

For almost sixty years, the VELUX Group has favoured France in its investment strategies. It is one of our key markets in Europe. We have developed a highly competitive industrial operation there, thanks to the commitment and qualifications of our employees. Our investment decisions are not geared towards large urban areas, but rather towards rural areas, where we make a real economic and social contribution. The new investment for Marnay is in line with this philosophy: a local base with a European reach,

says Lars Petersson, CEO of the VELUX Group.

It is a great satisfaction to see the VELUX Group investing heavily in our territory. This is a strategic decision that will benefit our entire ecosystem; for the Marnay site, which is going to grow in size and take a technological step forward, and also for employment in  the area and all local partners who work together with us,

says Claudy Broutin, Managing Director of the Marnay production site.

In total, VELUX employs about 1,000 employees in France in production and sales.
