Summary

Today, Tuesday 23 June, VELUX officially opens a new factory in Rostov 260 km northeast of Moscow. The new VELUX factory is specialised in production of the most popular VELUX roof window models on the Russian market.

Present at the opening ceremony were the factory staff members, the VELUX Group management, the governor and administration of the Yaroslavl region, the administration of the municipality of Rostov, the mayor of Rostov and the Minister Council of the Danish embassy.

Total project investments amounted to approximately one and a half billion rubles, or approximately 40 million Euro. The new production facilities are located on a 10,180 m2 plot of previously unused land. The factory expects to employ about 100 people at the end of 2009.

The Rostov factory is based on modern organisational and technological processes, including LEAN production principles and best practice from other VELUX factories. The factory has implemented the VELUX Manufacturing Model and shares the same culture and standards as other VELUX factories worldwide to ensure efficiency and high-quality products. The factory will be certified in accordance with international standards (ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001).

The Russian VELUX sales company, ZAO VELUX, was established in 1991. The ZAO MD-RUS production company specialises in production in Russia. Both companies are part of the VELUX Group.
