The VELUX Group’s CSR & Sustainability Report 2017 released

The VELUX Group continues to make progress towards reaching its 2020 goals in four focus areas.

The focus areas are:

  • Energy and climate
  • Zero-waste production
  • Sustainable sourcing
  • A safe and healthy workplace for all VELUX employees

Our main achievements in 2017 include:

  • 34.2% reduction in carbon footprint in all VELUX factories compared to the 2007 baseline
  • 97% of waste materials recycled in production
  • 99.5% of wood used in VELUX windows in Europe comes from certified, sustainable forests
  • 2.5 work-related accidents per one million working hours – five times lower than the comparable industry benchmark

In 2017, VELUX Management Group approved new CSR and Sustainability Policies. They support the UN Global Compact’s 10 principles and will strengthen our global risk management efforts in the future.

The VELUX Group strongly supports the global sustainability agenda; thus, we have sharpened our focus on contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by carefully selecting five targets to maximise our positive impact. The five targets are:

We are proud to see that the VELUX Group is working steadily and securely towards reaching our sustainability targets for 2020. CSR and sustainability is an important part of our business because we are committed to creating better living environments and reducing our environmental impact through sustainable business conduct. It is also a tool we will use even more in the future to connect with our partners, customers and other relevant stakeholders.
